Today is Ann's official birthday. Ann had a blast at her and Lynsey's birthday party on Saturday with friends - Sydney, Logan and Madison. Ann has been very busy playing with her new toys the last few days. She's growing up so fast, learning and comprehending new things every day. She is a real sweet and funny girl.
The party was a beach party / kiddy pool theme. This is the sand castle cake.
We borrowed a friends pool and slide to add to the fun.

Sydney and Madison

Lynsey's own sand castle cake. All she ate was the yogurt candy around it. :)

oh my goodness! that cake looks awesome! how did you make it? i see lots of ice cream cones involved...
The sandcastle was Caleb's idea and then I got the instructions/recipe here: http://jas.familyfun.go.com/recipefinder/display?id=50528
The 'sand' is crushed vanilla waffers. I made sugar cookie shells and added two different candies from Walmart that look like pebbles. It was a lot of fun to make - but I think next year I'll buy a cake unless I have a lot of time on my hands. :)
wow, so cool. thanks for the link! maybe next year i'll make this like an ice castle cake for izzy's b-day since it's in january. =)
